So Oily I Can See My Reflection
Throughout the process of designing my augmented reality (AR) poster series I have learnt multiple valuable skills and lessons. All of which, will positively impact my future design practice.
Final Posters (In Motion)
Technical Achievement
I believe my technical achievement for this project was high and has grown significantly following task 1. I executed various motion skills both in the experimentation, prototype and implementation stages - irresepective of if they were used in the final posters (Harris & Ambrose 2009). For example, executing the inflating type in my experimentation stage however not actually using it. In particular, I believe my execution of the dripping effect was successful as there are no lags and each drip leads to the next smoothly.
However, I could have approached my final poster designs through a more diverse technical lens by making them all different. Although, chose to keep them all the same as this was relevant to the concept. In relation, I considered small details such as the tip of the wand changing colour so the drip would match each poster. This involved ensuring opacity of layers corresponded with rotation times of the wand through parenting. I also utilised the graph editor as examined below, for the easing in/out of positioning and rotation to enhance movement flow of the wand. This was highly beneficial and enhanced my skills in creating smooth easing and less of an 'amateur' feel.

Implementation of Design Fundamentals
Predominantly, secondary motion was used in conjunction with temporal motion throughout the posters. Secondary motion is exhibited through the movement of the lipgloss wand across the poster and dripping of the type and kisses. Additionally, temporal factors include the velocity of the drips and lip gloss wand themselves. For example, ensuring some drips had a slower fall, whilst some were faster, in turn creating balance and intrigue. Considering these fundamentals together allowed me to create motion design that felt as realistic as possible. Therefore, positively impacting my ability to consider fundamentals and how they interact cohesively.
Aesthetic Outcome
Overall, I believe the final aesthetic of my posters is effective and attractive - particularly for the intended hypothetical target audience. More specifically, I believe the contrast between the hand drawn typography with the sans serif typeface 'Mori', paired with the gradient backdrop is eye-catching but legible making it a success (Lupton 2011).

Critical Moments
Experimentation was Crucial
I believe if I hadn't tried to execute this initial idea properly in the beginning, I would have ended up doing it in a poorly or improperly executed way. Thus, by trying it and actually doing it - then realising it wouldn't work was more beneficial to the final outcome of the project. Simultaneously, growing my skills as a designer irrespective of it was used in the final project. In turn, highlighting the importance of experimentation.
2. Feedback is Crucial
If it wasn't for ongoing feedback in this project I believe the final outcome would have been less effective in terms of visually communicating the intended message. As stated, feedback encouraged me to find the right balance of white space and content in my design. Ultimately, I can apply this appreciation for feedback in future both when designing individually and collaboratively in a workplace.
3. Similarity of Designs Interfered with Artivive Function
A negative of having only a difference in colour between all three posters is that Artivive failed to correctly pick up on the video. This in turn, taught me to test earlier on to avoid issues. As such, if designing a series of AR posters with Artivive again - I will ensure to make each design highly distinguishable and different.

Overall, this project was extremely valuable and grew my skills and confidence immensely. Ultimately, I will be able to leverage these skills learnt to produce increasingly more advanced digital advertisements and design. As such, enhancing my versatility and skill base as a designer.
